Nick Gordon of the Minnesota Twins has lost his arbitration hearing and will make less than $1 million in the 2024 season.

Per Mark Feinsand of MLB.com:

Nick Gordon has lost his arbitration hearing against the Twins, per source. Gordon will earn $900,000 in 2024; he had filed for $1.25 million.

The 28-year-old speedster is the son of former closer Tom "Flash" Gordon and the brother of former Marlins star Dee Strange-Gordon. He's appeared in games at the big league level in each of the last three years after debuting in 2021. He played in a career-high 136 games in 2022 but played in just 34 last season.

Gordon is a career .250 hitter and hit .272 in a breakout 2022 season but only hit .176 in 2023. He's got 15 career home runs and 16 career stolen bases and is capable of playing infield and outfield both.

It's unsure what his role will be with the Twins in 2024 but he certainly has an opportunity to contribute in meaningful fashion. The Twins won the American League Central last season and advanced to the ALDS, losing against the Houston Astros.

This offseason, they've lost ace pitcher Sonny Gray and traded away former All-Star Jorge Polanco. They also have seen Michael A. Taylor hit free agency and have lost reliever Emilio Pagan.

However, they've added reliever Justin Topa, starter Anthony DeSclafani and should get healthier campaigns out of Byron Buxton and Royce Lewis. A full season of Edouard Julien should help as well.

Spring training begins next week.
