MLB on Monday announced the punishments for the Tim Anderson-Jose Ramirez fight.

Anderson was suspended six games while Ramirez was suspended three games. Ramirez is appealing his suspension.

Three Cleveland Guardians team members received 1-game suspensions: closer Emmanuel Clase, manager Terry Francona, and infielders coach Mike Sarbaugh. Chicago White Sox manager Pedro Grifol was suspended for one game. Cleveland shortstop Gabriel Arias received an undisclosed fine.

The fight took place in the bottom of the sixth inning of Saturday’s game between Cleveland and Chicago, which the White Sox won 7-4. Ramirez didn’t like the tag Anderson applied to him at second base following a double and said something to the White Sox shortstop. Anderson responded with a shove and then dropped his glove to square up for a boxing fight.

Anderson threw a punch but it was Ramirez who scored the knockdown blow (video here). Benches from both teams cleared amid the scuffle.

Anderson was not in the lineup for the White Sox on Sunday, though Ramirez played as his Guardians lost 5-3. Anderson ended up sending a stream of tweets on Sunday night.
