MLB best bets, 2 Picks and a Prop for 6/30: Back Bad Vlad and you won't be sad

Sorry, I missed you all yesterday, and that was after back-to-back winning days. Just like the weather, maybe we are heating up. Only time will tell.

This weekend the buzz is going to be about NBA and NHL free agency stuff, but before we dive into that tomorrow let's cash some more MLB tickets tonight.

Every team is in action today but there are a couple of afternoon games to slim down the options. There are some very good series this weekend for those seeking to be entertained. Miami is going to try and reel in Atlanta, the same goes for Houston and Texas, and the Diamondbacks vs. the Angels actually has meaning this weekend. That has probably never been written before.

MLB Picks for Friday, June 30

Favorite
Toronto Blue Jays -140 (vs. Boston Red Sox)

The Blue Jays have won their last two games coming into this weekend's series. I like them to off to a good start this evening with Jose Berrios on the hill. Berrios can be up and down, but he is strong at home. His ERA is close to two runs better and he is 4-1 at the Rogers Centre. Boston has been struggling lately and just because he is Canadian, the Big Maple, James Paxton, is not going to have an easy time against a Toronto lineup loaded with strong righty bats.

Underdog
Houston Astros +145 (at Texas Rangers)

Houston put a hurt on the Cardinals this week, scoring 10+ runs in back to games prior to this one. Jon Gray is having a very nice season for the Rangers but I expect the Astros can score some runs and keep the pressure on. Ronel Blanco has seen Texas twice this season, both in relief. He is starting now and has looked good enough to win with. Houston has posted positive units on the road and as an underdog this season.

Prop
Vlad Guerrero Jr. Over 1.5 Total Bases +100

Vlady is starting to hit at home, finally. On this current homestand, he has hit three homers and has at least a couple of total bases in five of six games. When he is hot and is seeing the ball well, he is as good as any slugger in the game. His career average against Paxton is .250 but against lefties this season he is hitting .348. Don't be surprised if this one cashes in the bottom of the first.
