MLB best bets, strikeout props for Monday 8/7: Eury-ka! We've found a great K prop!

It's a new week here in strikeout prop land, and I intend to kick it off with a bang. Let's start the week off strong with my three favorite K props for Monday's MLB slate. 

Eury Perez over 6.5 Ks (+120 DraftKings)

Eury Perez has been one of the most unhittable starters in baseball over the last two months. If you take out his outlier start against the Atlanta Braves in which he didn't make it out of the first inning, Perez has given up only two earned runs in his last seven starts. He's gone over 6.5 Ks three times in his last four starts, and the Cincinnati Reds have averaged 10.7 strikeouts per game over the last two weeks, which is the second-worst mark in MLB. Perez should stay hot against this struggling lineup.

Hyun Jin Ryu under 3.5 Ks (-126 FanDuel)

Hyun-Jin Ryu made his first start in over a year last week and got knocked around for nine hits and four earned runs against the Baltimore Orioles. Before undergoing season-ending elbow surgery last year, Ryu struck out just 16 batters in 27 innings pitched. This isn't the same pitcher who finished second in NL Cy Young voting in 2019. I don't see him turning it around against a Cleveland Guardians lineup that's recorded the fewest strikeouts in MLB this year. Take the under. 

Gerrit Cole over 7.5 Ks (+120 DK)

Gerrit Cole has been one of the lone bright spots for the New York Yankees this season. The right-hander is the favorite to win the AL Cy Young award with his 10-2 record and 2.64 ERA, and he's averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game over his last four starts. Now he gets to face a Chicago White Sox lineup that's been brutal over the last week, as they've scored just 3.0 runs per game and have recorded a league-most 69 strikeouts in that span. This is a great matchup for Cole, and the plus-money price is just a bonus.
