MLB best bets, strikeout props for Thursday 8/17: Today, special K is on Sale

Coming off a 2-1 mark on Wednesday, we're now 8-1 this week in strikeout props. Let's keep this profit train rolling down the track with my three favorite K props for Thursday's MLB slate. 

Chris Sale under 5.5 Ks (-105 DraftKings)

Chris Sale is always a dangerous pitcher to fade in strikeout props. The lanky lefty is averaging 11.0 strikeouts per nine innings this season, and he's gone over 5.5 Ks in five of his last six starts. If you're going to bet an under on Sale, though, this is the team to do it with. The Washington Nationals have the lowest strikeout percentage in MLB against left-handers this year (20.6 percent), and they've struck out just 6.6 times per game over the last week. 

Adam Wainwright under 3.5 Ks (-158 FanDuel)

What are we doing here? Adam Wainwright has been atrocious this season with his career-worst 8.78 ERA and 5.3 strikeouts per nine innings. The veteran has gone over 3.5 Ks just three times in 15 starts this year, and he's surrendered 19 earned runs in his last 10 innings pitched. Meanwhile, the New York Mets have been on fire at the dish lately with 26 runs over their last four games. I know this is a ton of juice to swallow, but this number should never be 3.5. 

Rich Hill under 4.5 Ks (-135 DK)

Rich Hill hasn't been impressive since being traded to the San Diego Padres earlier this month. In two starts with his new team, Hill has surrendered nine earned runs and recorded eight strikeouts. One of those starts just happened to come against the Arizona Diamondbacks, and the veteran finished with four Ks, seven hits allowed, and four earned runs in just 3.1 innings. The Diamondbacks are averaging the second-fewest strikeouts per game (6.8) in MLB over the last two weeks, and I think they get to Hill just as they did in the last matchup.
