MLB best bets, strikeout props for Tuesday 8/8: Rodriguez should feast on Twinkies

A 2-1 mark on Monday is exactly what we needed to start the new week. Let's keep the momentum rolling with my three favorite strikeout props for Tuesday's MLB slate.

Eduardo Rodriguez over 5.5 Ks (-115 DraftKings)

Fading the Minnesota Twins in strikeout props has been a cash cow all season, so why stop now? The Twins have recorded more strikeouts than any other team in the majors this year. They also have the worst batting average in MLB against left-handed pitching and a 27.9 percent strikeout rate against lefties. Eduardo Rodriguez has gone over this number in five of his last seven starts, and this will be the easiest matchup he'll face all year. Take the over.

Braxton Garrett under 6.5 Ks (-158 FanDuel)

The Cincinnati Reds have been abysmal offensively with a league-high 70 strikeouts over the last week, but I think those recent performances have hiked this number up too high. Braxton Garrett hasn't gone over 6.5 Ks in seven straight starts, and he's done so only seven times in 22 starts this season. The Reds have a higher batting average, higher OPS, and lower strikeout percentage against lefties than they do against righties this year, so I'll swallow the juice and hope for a better offensive performance Tuesday.

Brandon Pfaadt under 4.5 Ks (-110 DK)

Brandon Pfaadt is off to a rough start to his MLB career. The rookie is 0-5 with a 7.11 ERA in nine starts this season, and he's gone over 4.5 Ks just three times in those nine starts. Now he has to face a Los Angeles Dodgers lineup that's averaging 8.4 runs over their last seven games. The Dodgers lead the league in runs (52), batting average (.324), and OPS (.996) over the last week, so Pfaadt may not make it very far in Tuesday's start.
