MLB best bets, strikeout props for Wednesday 8/2: Look for Cole to struggle vs. Rays

A 1-2 mark Tuesday brought our record to a measly 1-5 on the week, but we're not panicking just yet. We still have three days left to fight back to the green this week, so let's start it off with my three favorite strikeout prop bets for Wednesday's MLB slate.

Kutter Crawford over 5.5 Ks (+118 FanDuel)

The Seattle Mariners have been a profitable team to fade in the strikeout prop market all season, as they rank No. 2 in MLB in total strikeouts. Seattle hasn't been much better of late with 10.0 strikeouts per game over the last week. Kutter Crawford has cleared this number in two of his last three starts, and this is as good of a matchup as he could ask for to stay hot on the mound. Take the over.

Brandon Williamson under 3.5 Ks (+110 DraftKings)

Not even Nolan Ryan could slow down the Chicago Cubs right now. Over the last 15 days, the Cubs have the highest batting average (.301), the highest OPS (.908), and the most runs (89) in MLB. Coming off a 20-run explosion against the Cincinnati Reds Tuesday, Chicago now gets to face rookie Brandon Williamson, who's gone under this number in two of his last three starts. Williamson struck out just three batters and gave up four earned runs in his lone start against the Cubs this season.

Gerrit Cole under 7.5 Ks (+100 FD)

Gerrit Cole has been on fire of late with 26 strikeouts and just three earned runs over his last three starts, but I can't see him keeping that up against this Tampa Bay Rays lineup. In two starts against the Rays this season, Cole has given up seven earned runs and struck out 10 batters. Cole's recent hot streak has pushed this number too high, so I'll gladly jump on the under.
