MLB best bets: Wiesguy's 2 Picks and a Prop for 4/10
Baseball is a marathon, not a sprint, so it is hard to say what we have learned in such a small sample size, but because MLB is such a long season, it is the ultimate betting opportunity. Truly.
There are so many options to choose from and most days we have 15 games, so it is like an NFL Sunday every day of the week.
Similar to what we did during the NBA season, we are going to make a few picks every day in this space. It will be a little different though because MLB betting is much more moneyline oriented. With that in mind, I am going to do things a little differently, picking a favorite, an underdog, and a prop per article.
We will track the winning percentage, units (10 per bet to make the math work), and winning days like we did in the NBA, but it will probably shake out a little differently because some of those underdog winners might just pay the bills ... if you know what I mean.

MLB Picks for Monday April 10
Favorite
Miami Marlins -135 (@ Philadelphia Phillies)
Neither of these teams is off to a great start to the season. Miami is normally a fade because their offense is so light but Cy Young winner Sandy Alcantara is on the mound today, fresh off a complete-game shutout. He is worth paying a premium with, especially against lefty Matt Strahm, a tweener starter for the Phillies, who have yet to find the form that led them to the World Series last October.
Underdog
Colorado Rockies +125 (vs. St. Louis Cardinals)
The Cardinals have not looked good this season. The Cardinals' starter, lefty Steven Matz, is prone to homers so an early-season trip to Coors Field looks like it might not turn out well for the Cards. On the flip side, Colorado ace German Marquez takes the ball for the Rockies. He has posted mixed results so far, but I like him making his first home start of the season. Plus righties are what you want to try and stymie St. Louis.
MLB Prop
Mike Trout Over 1.5 Total Bases
Trout is off to a great start to the season. I love the matchup here at home, especially against Patrick Corbin, a lefty starter. The only worry is that they will pitch around him too much with the lefty Ohtani behind him in the lineup as usual. To be honest, there is probably never a matchup where it is bad to back Trout. Just one extra-base hit is all we need.
