The American League Central division has been one worth watching all season long.

It’s been a story of three teams who have been beating up on each other, but also have been unable to pull away from the rest of the pack.

That is, until now.

The Cleveland Guardians have been one of the three teams in the mix and have led the division for the majority of the second half.

Now, they find themselves pulling away from the Chicago White Sox and Minnesota Twins.

With a 10-7 win over the South Siders on Tuesday night, the Guardians moved to five games ahead in the AL Central.

They now have a 96.6% chance of reaching the postseason according to FanGraphs, and have also clinched the season tiebreaker over the White Sox, meaning that if the two teams finish tied for first by record, the division title would be awarded to the Guardians.

Guardians Strengthen Playoff Odds

There was a lot of doubt and uncertainty surrounding the Guardians entering the 2022 season.

But all of that has seemingly been put to rest.

With roughly two weeks to go in the season, the Guardians finally find themselves in command of the AL Central.

The Twins have been struggling lately and have fallen to eight games back of the Guardians after leading the way for much of the first half.

The White Sox can create a little life if they can rattle off two straight wins to win the series.

But this is the Guardians’ chance to step on the rest of the AL Central and prove who the best team truly is.

This may be the series of the year for Cleveland.

Now is their chance to put the division title out of reach.
