MLB Network's Jon Morosi thinks MLB, MLBPA will have a deal by June 1
MLB Network and baseball insider Jon Morosi may have given baseball fans an early Memorial Day present on Friday.
Morosi spoke with Mike Francesa of Radio.com and New York sports radio station WFAN about the state of negotiations between owners and the MLB Players Association regarding the start of the 2020 season amid the coronavirus pandemic:
Morosi explained:
"The key thing is getting the agreement on the healthcare dynamic to make sure all the requisite municipalities and states sign off on the plan. I think navigating that dynamic and trying to have all 30 teams playing, potentially across the country, who knows about Canada, with Toronto, if that's able to happen. Certainly, there's some obstacles there.
"I just think it's the differences between the states and making sure all the playing is compliant with the local rules, where the games are being played.
"I think financially, I'm very confident a deal will happen by June 1."
Also on Friday, The Athletic's Evan Drellich reported MLB owners will submit an official updated economics proposal to the players following the holiday:
