Sometimes, MLB can provide us with some beautiful moments.

Such was the case on Sunday prior to a spring training matchup between the Houston Astros and the Washington Nationals.

The Astros, who are the defending American League champions, are managed by none other than the great Dusty Baker, who has a long track record of success.

But his son, Darren Baker, is a prospect in the Nationals organization.

Prior to Sunday’s ballgame, Darren delivered the Nationals lineup card to the umpires, while his father delivered Houston’s lineup card.

After pleasantries were exchanged, father and son shared a touching moment, embracing before the start of the game.

A Wholesome Moment

Sports can be wholesome too.

Sometimes, things are just bigger than baseball, and that was certainly the case on Sunday when father and son reunited on the baseball field.

It’s the moments like these that not only make you feel good about life, but also make you love baseball and see that outside of the competition, there is a sense of love in the game.

Seeing Darren and Dusty embrace makes us all realize how beautiful baseball, and sports for that matter, can truly be.

The Nationals won the game by the final score of 3-2, but that takes a back seat to the beautiful moment shared between one of the best managers the game has ever seen and his son, a prospect with a bright future and a chance to prove himself.

Baseball is almost like a family.

There’s a nice sense of community shared by players and coaches throughout the league.

Baseball may be about competition, but little moments like this remind us of all the good that comes with sports.
