MLB unveils chain to be given to 2022 Home Run Derby winner

Major League Baseball is continuing its new traditional of adding a chain to the list of prizes on the line in the 2022 Home Run Derby.

In addition to the traditional trophy and a $1 million prize, the winner will get a "derby chain" for the second straight year, MLB revealed Friday.

Three years ago, New York Mets slugger Pete Alonso won the 2019 Home Run Derby and was sporting a customized chain at a press conference that he said was a gift from musician Daddy Yankee.

Two years later — after a one-year hiatus due to the pandemic — Alonso won the derby again and received another massive chain for his victory.

Alonso will attempt to make it three in a row as part of an eight-player field that also includes Kyle Schwarber, Albert Pujols, Juan Soto, José Ramírez, Ronald Acuña, Corey Seager and Julio Rodríguez.
