One day after the 4th of July, the baseball world celebrates another big day.
Today is Shohei Ohtani‘s birthday.
The Los Angeles Angels two-way star turns 28 today, and we celebrate one of the greatest players to ever play the game and his unique ability to both dominate like Max Scherzer on the mound and hit long home runs like Bryce Harper at the plate.
Ohtani can do it all and has earned himself the nickname of “SHO-Time.”
He’s also on the cover on MLB The Show 22, following last year’s MVP campaign.
MLB Europe posted a tweet this morning, wishing Ohtani a happy birthday.

It’s a special day in baseball today.
Ohtani is a special player and has a chance to celebrate a birthday today.
He’s arguably the best player in all of baseball.
His unique ability to both pitch and hit is something we have not seen since the days of Babe Ruth, leading many to call him the modern-day version of the Great Bambino.
But there is nothing that this man can’t do when he’s out on a baseball field.
This is the kind of player Ohtani is.
This is the level of talent that he brings to the table for the Angels.
Though it has not been a good season for the Angels by any stretch of the imagination, Ohtani has been one saving grace for a floundering franchise.
He’s the guy that this team is going to build around, along with Mike Trout.
He’s the first player since one of the all-time greats to both pitch and hit effectively, and today, we wish one of the best players in all of baseball the happiest of birthdays.
