The Atlanta Braves made headlines on Monday with International Signing Day kicking off.

The Atlanta Braves were looking to improve the future roster by signing big-named international prospects, and they hit the ground running.

The Atlanta Braves signed shortstop Jose Perdomo of Venezuela, who is seen as a top-five international prospect.

"The teen’s bat-to-ball skills are above-average, and he ranks among the best-hitting prospects in the class," MLB.com's Jesse Borek wrote. "He has a good feel for the strike zone and his swing continues to improve. Scouts have noted his ability to drive offspeed pitches and fastballs to all fields with relative ease, and he has a knack for making hard contact. He rarely strikes out and always puts the ball in play. With plus running potential, Perdomo could be a threat on the basepaths in the future."

The Braves have reportedly signed Perdomo for $5 million.

27 days. Atlanta's expected to ask pitchers and catchers to report on Monday, February 12th, in advance of their first spring training game on February 24th against the Tampa Bay Rays. An official announcement of the reporting date will come in January.
