Nationals ace Max Scherzer leaves game vs. Mets after one inning
Washington Nationals ace Max Scherzer exited Wednesday's game versus the New York Mets at Nationals Park after only a single inning of work.
The Nationals didn't immediately announce the reason for Scherzer's early departure.
The 36-year-old with three Cy Young Awards on his resume walked Brandon Nimmo to begin Wednesday's outing. Scherzer then surrendered a hit to Michael Conforto before getting Pete Alonso to strike out.
Dominic Smith drove home the game's first run on a sacrifice fly.
Scherzer began the evening with a record of 0-1 and a 2.84 ERA. His loss came to the New York Yankees on Opening Day back on July 23.
