The Washington Nationals picked up their third win in four games, beating Shohei Ohtani, Mike Trout, and the Los Angeles Angels 6-4 on Monday. The Nats won without its second baseman Luis Garcia, who is nursing a hamstring injury, and its manager Dave Martinez.

Martinez was not at the pregame media scrum as he felt under the weather. Nationals bench coach Tim Bogar did the managerial pregame responsibilities and then managed the club during the game in place of Martinez.

After the game, Bogar revealed Martinez received multiple IVs during the game and watched the contest from his office, per Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports. Bogar expressed hope that Martinez can return to manage Tuesday.

Hopefully, the issue is not severe. Dave Martinez underwent a heart procedure in September 2019 after falling ill. He returned and managed the Nationals to the club’s first World Series championship that season.
