Tim Locastro started his first Cactus League game with the San Diego Padres on Friday afternoon against the Los Angeles Angels.

As the DH in the nine-hole, he went 2-for-2 with a double, an RBI, a run scored, and a walk.

Locastro opted for free agency after spending the last year with the New York Mets and battled through a thumb injury that required surgery during the season. He only had 67 plate appearances in his 43 big-league games with the Mets.

When he arrived in Arizona to begin camp with San Diego, he met with the media and spoke about adjusting quickly to his new team because the camp had already started. He is also confident that he will break camp on the big league roster.

"I feel like when you go out there, your No. 1 goal is to help the team win and everything else sort of falls into place."

It's not a secret that the Padres are short on experienced outfielders on the current roster and Locastro brings seven years of major league experience at all three outfield positions.

Before playing his lone season with the Mets, Locastro spent time with the Dodgers, Diamondbacks, and Yankees.
