According to a report on social media, New York Yankees ' outfielder Alex Verdugo will wear No. 24 in New York, while Trent Grisham will wear No. 12.

Per "Numbers MLB" on "X:"

#Yankees OF Trent Grisham will wear number 12. Last worn by INF/OF Isiah Kiner-Falefa in 2023. OF Alex Verdugo will wear number 24. Last worn by DH/OF Willie Calhoun in 2023.

Those are the numbers listed for both players on the Yankees official roster, as well. It will be a new look for both players, as Verdugo wore No. 99 in Boston since arriving in 2020. Grisham has worn both "1" and "2" in his career.

Grisham was acquired from the San Diego Padres in the same deal that netted the Yankees Juan Soto. An elite defender, Grisham will be a reliable fourth outfielder for manager Aaron Boone. Soto, Verdugo and Aaron Judge figure to get the bulk of the playing time.

The 27-year-old is a five-year veteran with the Brewers and Padres. He made his major league debut in 2019 and is a lifetime .216 hitter. He won a Gold Glove in both 2020 and 2022, however.

As for Verdugo, he's also 27 and is headed for the final year of his contract. He spent parts of three seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers before getting to Boston. He's coming off a year in which he hit .264 with 13 homers and 54 RBI. Lifetime, he's a .281 hitter.

The Yankees finished fourth in the American League East a season ago and failed to make the playoffs.
