'No movement' in Mets' contract talks with Michael Conforto since Opening Day
Michael Conforto is on pace to become a free agent this coming winter.
New York Mets general manager Zack Scott said Saturday that there has been "no movement" in contract talks with Conforto since Opening Day, according to MLB.com's Anthony DiComo:
Conforto has spent his entire career with the Mets, earning an All-Star selection in 2017. The 28-year-old is hitting .233/.373/.367 this season with two home runs and 10 RBIs on 21 hits.
It's unclear what kind of deal Conforto is looking for. If he doesn't re-sign with the Mets, he will be one of the most sought-after outfielders on the market, joining Dexter Fowler, Tommy Pham, Mark Canha and Starling Marte, among others.
After Lindor signed his extension, the All-Star shortstop said he hopes Conforto will remain in New York "for a very long time." Only time will tell if the Mets will grant Lindor's wish.
