One name that many Dodger fans would like to forget is Noah Syndergaard. The veteran pitcher could be making his return back to the team sooner rather than later as he just went on a rehab assignment. 

Syndergaard actually looked solid in the assignment, throwing five innings of work and allowed just two runs, while striking out six batters. If this is a sign of things to come for him, maybe he could provide some value to the team down the stretch. 

He has been out since early June, dealing with a blister issue but in reality, he was essentially put on the injured list to take a break and get back on track. Syndergaard had seen the worst start to his career and saw his ERA balloon to 7.16 after his last start against the Cincinnati Reds. 

It was the kind of start for Syndergaard that was out of his nightmares and he even said that he would give up his hypothetical first child to be able to perform in the way that he used to. The former All-Star had trouble getting batters out and routinely would get rocked on the mound.

The Dodgers hope that the time away and getting his blister issue corrected, Syndergaard can come back and help them out. Even if he comes in to just eat some innings and bring relief to some of the other arms, it would be seen as a win for LA.

They signed him over the offseason for $13 million and they likely don't want to just give up on him. He possibly could help out in the bullpen here and there as well but manager Dave Roberts has said that they view him as a starter mainly. 

But either way, if Syndergaard does rejoin the Dodgers, it could be his last chance to show that he can produce. His MLB career is up in the air right now and unless he can be effective, his time as a Dodger and big league may be done with.
