Nolan Arenado joins exclusive club after smashing 300th career HR

St. Louis Cardinals star third baseman Nolan Arenado reached a significant milestone on Saturday, hitting career home run No. 300 against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Arenado is known for his skills at the plate and in the field, but his latest accolade helped him join an exclusive group. On Saturday, he became only the eighth player in MLB history to notch 300 homers and 10 Gold Gloves in a career.

After coming only feet from hitting a homer in his first at-bat of the day, Arenado finally reached the 300 mark in the top of the third, smashing a two-run shot off Brewers' starter Eric Lauer, giving the Cardinals a 4-0 lead.

Arenado finished the day 2-for-3 with three RBI in the Cardinals' 6-0 win over the Brew Crew. The victory helped the Cardinals improve to 3-5, snapping a four-game losing streak.

According to Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Dispatch, Arenado is the seventh player to hit their 300th career home run in a Cardinals uniform, joining Stan Musial, Gary Gaetti, Jim Edmonds, Troy Glaus, Albert Pujols and Paul Goldschmidt.

It took eight games, but Arenado finally launched his first long ball of the 2023 campaign. Arenado is off to a solid start following his performance Saturday against the Brewers. Through 33 at-bats, Arenado has a home run and eight RBI, slashing .364/.389/.485.

At only 31, Arenado presumably has a lot of baseball left to play, and it should be exciting to see what else the slugger can accomplish during the remainder of what's already been a standout career.
