It's well established that the Oakland Athletics are headed for one of the worst years in baseball history.

The team entered play on Monday night at a league-worst 4-18. They had lost nine of their last 10 games.

The other day we reported that the A's are setting all kinds of records in futility.

And we also heard that the A's are likely moving to Las Vegas -- and soon.

Despite all that, the team made some fun team history on Monday vs. the Angels.

"Brent Rooker and Jesus Aguilar hit back-to-back homers in the 1st AND 3rd inning tonight. It's the first time in Athletics franchise history that a pair of teammates have had multiple instances of back-to-back home runs in a single game."

Rooker is a 28-year-old outfielder who was drafted in the first round of the 2017 draft by the Minnesota Twins. The Mississippi State product made his debut in 2020 with the Twins, playing just seven games. He spent 2021 with the Twins before spending 2022 in San Diego, Kansas City and the minor leagues. This year for Oakland, he's played 16 games and is hitting .340 with six home runs and 13 RBI.

As for Aguilar, he's hitting .262 this year with four homers and seven RBI. The well-traveled slugger spent three years with the Cleveland Guardians, then went to Milwaukee for 2.5 years, Tampa Bay for the end of the 2019 season, Miami for 2.5 years and ended the 2022 season with Baltimore before getting to Oakland this year.

At the time of this posting, the A's and Angels are tied at 7-7 in the sixth inning.
