The Los Angeles Angels called up outfielder Mickey Moniak on Friday for the first time this season, while infielder Jake Lamb was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Moniak, who turns 25 on Saturday, was sent down to Salt Lake at the end of spring training despite going 18-for-44 (.409) during Cactus League play with three home runs and a team-best 11 RBIs. He continued his success at Triple-A, batting .308 with a .940 OPS and eight home runs with 23 RBIs in 33 games.

The former No. 1 overall draft pick by Philadelphia in 2016, Moniak was acquired from the Phillies last season in exchange for right-hander Noah Syndergaard. He hit .200 with three home runs with six RBIs in 19 games with the Angels after the trade.

In 66 major league games with the Phillies and Angels since 2020, Moniak is a .157 hitter with four home runs and 11 RBIs.
