The new ownership group taking charge of the Baltimore Orioles is set to feature an array of big names.

The Orioles confirmed the sale of the team on Wednesday to a group led by David Rubenstein, a private equity billionaire. Rubenstein’s group also contains a wide array of minority investors, including former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Notably, two major figures in the sports world are tied to the group: former NBA star Grant Hill and Orioles legend Cal Ripken Jr.

On X, Ripken voiced his excitement at being part of the group and said he would do “whatever [he] can” to help the organization.

The Rubenstein group is paying over $1.7 billion for the franchise, a popular move with fans who are glad to see the unpopular Angelos family on the way out. Having someone who is so closely linked to the team as even a minor part of the new group can only help.
