Texas Rangers pitcher Glenn Otto looked sharp in his second injury rehab start with the Triple-A Round Rock Express on Sunday against El Paso.

Otto threw three innings and didn’t allow a run. He gave up one hit and struck out three. He walked none.

Otto gave up a two-out single to Tim Lopes with two out in the first inning. After that, he retired the final seven hitters he faced.

Otto was coming off his first injury rehab start on Tuesday, which was also against El Paso. That was his first action since Spring Training.

He also threw three innings, giving up two hits, two runs (earned) and struck out four. He also didn’t give up a walk.

Otto was on the 60-day injured list after he suffered a right shoulder strain in Spring Training. He was considered a bullpen candidate before the injury.

Last season Otto was a member of the Rangers starting rotation and went 7-10 with a 4.64 ERA.

Depending upon how much progress Otto makes in the minors, he could be a candidate to re-join the rotation. Jacob deGrom — signed in the offseason to be the staff’s ace — is out of the season after having surgery for a torn UCL in his right elbow.
