You can count another member of the 2023 San Diego Padres who won’t be returning to the team next season. Reliever Luis Garcia has agreed to a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Angels, worth $4.25 million.

MLB insider Bob Nightengale of USA Today reported the signing of the former Padres pitcher.

Garcia spent the last two seasons with the Padres, becoming a key member of their bullpen. Last season, he posted an ERA of 4.07 in 61 appearances with the team.

He has been in the league for a while now, first starting out in 2013 with the Philadelphia Phillies. Garcia should bring some experience to the Halos' bullpen, something that they were lacking in previous years.

The Angels and Garcia know each other already, as he spent the 2019 season with them. He posted an ERA of 4.35 over 54 starts with the Halos before electing free agency once the year was over.

This move is another signal that the Padres front office will need to fill more open spots within the roster. While Garcia wasn’t the most important piece to their bullpen, he added depth and they will need to fill the gaps.
