According to the Padres' transactions page on MLB.com, the Padres signed veteran left-handed pitcher Austin Davis on a minor league deal. Davis, who turns 31 in February, has spent time at the major league level with the Philadelphia Phillies, Pittsburgh Pirates, Boston Red Sox, and Minnesota Twins.

A journeyman relief pitcher, Davis last made a major league appearance with the Twins back in 2022. During his last full season, Davis had a 5.79 ERA and 1.61 WHIP in 52 games (56.0 innings).

He spent last year in the Houston Astros' organization mostly at the Triple-A level. At Triple-A, he had 11.22 ERA in 25.2 innings.

The Padres recently signed left-handed relief pitcher Wandy Peralta to a four-year, $16.5 million deal. Peralta joins rookie Tim Cosgrove and Yuki Matsui as left-handed options for the Friars next year.

Now, Davis provides organizational depth for the Padres in case of injury.
