The Chicago White Sox are undergoing a leadership shakeup in the front office, but not in the dugout. In his introductory press conference, general manager Chris Getz said Pedro Grifol will return as White Sox manager in 2024.

Getz discussed a number of topics upon gaining his new titles, including an internal evaluation of the organization that will take place in the offseason. While the new senior VP/GM said he is open to change, Grifol will remain in the dugout next season.

"I think it's important to provide stability to our players," Getz said. "There's been a lot of changes the last couple of years and certainly here recently. I believe that we need to get back to playing baseball, focusing on baseball, so when these players show up each day, they can just focus on the game and not the leaders in the organization."

Grifol has struggled in his first year as a big-league manager, leading the White Sox to the fourth-worst record in MLB at 53-81. The former Kansas City Royals bench coach has made questionable personnel and strategy decisions, leading many observers to believe he is not cut out for the job.

Regardless of those concerns, Grifol seems to have Getz's support — for now — and will be the manager in the first full season under a restructured White Sox front office.
