The Philadelphia Phillies made a much-needed change in late May when they fired manager Joe Girardi and promoted bench coach Rob Thomson to the position.
From there, the Phillies took off and secured their first postseason berth since 2011.
As the third NL Wild Card team, they took down the St. Louis Cardinals, Atlanta Braves, and San Diego Padres to reach the World Series for the first time since 2009.
Ultimately, they fell two games short against the Houston Astros.
But as the finalists for the National League Manager of the Year Award were revealed, Thomson, who transformed the Phillies and got them going in the right direction, was absent from the list.
One Phillies analyst pointed this out and noted that Thomson was snubbed.
NL MOY Snub?
Thomson was certainly deserving of the award, so it is surprising to see him not be considered here.
The Phillies were in a tough spot when they let go of Girardi and handed the reins over to Thomson.
But Thomson helped fix the problems that had plagued them under Girardi.
Thomson changed the trajectory of the ballclub and led them to the World Series.
The Phillies also became the first team in baseball history to finish in third place in their division and still reach the World Series.
However, Thomson is not a finalist for the NL Manager of the Year Award.
Instead, the finalists are Dave Roberts, Brian Snitker, and Buck Showalter, each of whom led their teams to 100+ win seasons.
But it is surprising that Thomson is not among the finalists.
