The Philadelphia Phillies claimed right-hander Tayler Scott off waivers from the San Diego Padres on Wednesday.

The team optioned the 30-year-old reliever to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Scott appeared in eight games for the Padres and went 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA and 13 strikeouts in 12 innings.

Philadelphia made room on the 40-man roster by placing left-hander Kent Emanuel on the 60-day injured list with a left shoulder strain.

Emanuel, 30, has spent the entire season in the minors. He is 2-3 with a 2.64 ERA in 13 starts across three levels.
