For four seasons, Kevin Frandsen has covered Philadelphia Phillies games beside long-time radio announcer Scott Franzke. That partnership will come to an end in 2022.

The Washington Nationals announced Thursday via Twitter that Frandsen will join their television broadcast booth on MASN as color commentator opposite play-by-play man Bob Carpenter.

As a player, Frandsen spent one season with the Nationals in 2014, slashing .259/.299/.309 off the bench in 236 plate appearances.

Prior to that, Frandsen had been with the Phillies in 2012 and 2013, accruing 488 plate appearances and a slashline of .280/.333/.389.

Once he retired in 2016, Frandsen coached high school baseball for a year at Willow Glen High School in San Jose, California.

In 2018, Frandsen joined the Phillies radio broadcast booth on a trial period with Kevin Jordan and Kevin Stocker. In 2019, Frandsen’s role was expanded while Jordan and Stocker were let go.

The Phillies have yet to announce Frandsen’s replacement for 2022, but it remains to be seen whether the Phillies could bring in a slew of new broadcasters on trial period as they did in 2018 or hire one color commentator to fill Frandsen’s old role entirely.
