Darick Hall underwent surgery Wednesday morning to repair the UCL in his right thumb.

The Philadelphia Phillies said that the first baseman is expected to be sidelined for about two months.

Hall injured his thumb trying to stretch a single into a double last week against the New York Yankees.

With Rhys Hoskins lost for the regular season with a torn ACL, Hall was expected to receive added playing time.

Alec Bohm and Kody Clemens have played first base in Hall’s absence. J.T. Realmuto is also a possibility and Bryce Harper may return from Tommy John surgery to fill in at first as well.

In a brief stint before his injury, Hall was 4-for-18 with one home run and one RBI.

The 6-foot-4 left-handed hitting Hall hit nine home runs and batted .250 in 41 games with the Phillies last season. The 27-year-old has 28 career home runs and 88 RBI in 101 games at Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

It will be interesting to see how manager Rob Thomson divides the plying time at first base when Hall returns.
