Kyle Schwarber and Trea Turner were hit by pitches with the bases loaded to force in the tying and go-ahead run in the eighth inning Sunday afternoon for the host Philadelphia Phillies, who built a bizarre four-run rally to edge the New York Mets 7-6 in the finale of a three-game series.

The Phillies improved to 15-6 since being swept by the Mets in a three-game series from May 30 through June 1. New York, which hasn't won a series since, is 5-15 since the sweep.

The Mets scored in every inning between the third and seventh to carry a 6-3 lead into the eighth, when the Phillies sent 10 batters to the plate despite collecting just one hit against Josh Walker, Jeff Brigham (0-2) and Vinny Nittoli.

Bryce Harper led off by drawing a walk against Walker, who gave up a single to J.T. Realmuto before walking Bryson Stott. Brigham entered and induced Alec Bohm to ground to third, but Brett Baty double-clutched and then threw wide of second baseman Jeff McNeil for an error as Harper scored.

Brigham then walked Brandon Marsh to force home Realmuto. The right-hander struck out Kody Clemens before plunking Schwarber and Turner in a span of six pitches.

The rally made a winner of Jeff Hoffman (1-1), who struck out two in a perfect eighth. Craig Kimbrel plunked Pete Alonso leading off the ninth but retired the next three batters -- two by strikeout -- to earn his 11th save.

Turner homered in the first, added an RBI single in the third and scored on catcher Omar Narvaez's throwing error in the fifth.

Alonso had three RBIs via a two-run single in the third and a homer in the seventh. Brandon Nimmo laced a run-scoring single in the fourth before Francisco Lindor homered leading off the fifth, and Starling Marte collected an RBI groundout in the sixth.

Phillies starter Zack Wheeler gave up five runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out eight over 5 1/3 innings. Mets starter Carlos Carrasco allowed two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five over four innings.
