Pittsburgh Pirates prospect Nick Gonzales has hit for the cycle Tuesday night. The Pirates Triple-A club is playing their season’s final series against Rochester.
Gonzales batted in the three-hold for Indianapolis Tuesday night, and his evening started with a 450-foot mammoth homer in the first inning. Gonzales’ homer was his 13th of the season in Triple-A.
The only out Gonzales recorded on his 4-5 night was in the third inning with a deep fly ball to center field. In addition, Gonzales drove in five runs.
After a fourth-inning walk, Gonzales hit a double in the sixth and a triple in the same inning as Indianapolis sent 12 men to the plate.
Gonzales finally sealed the deal in the eighth inning with a single.
The Pirates optioned Gonzales down to Triple-A on Aug. 3, and before Tuesday’s game, Gonzales was batting .298 with six homers, 11 doubles, and an OPS of .922.
Indianapolis finished Tuesday’s game with a 19-1 win over Rochester and took a 1-0 series lead. Nick Gonzales had four of Indianapolis’ 21 hits in a huge night for the bats.
