Andrew Painter was born in Pompano Beach, Florida on April 10, 2003. He played high school baseball at Calvary Christian High School in Fort Lauderdale, FL. He was the number one ranked RHP and the top-ranked overall player in Florida. At Calvary Christian he made 35 appearances going 20-4 with a 0.78 ERA and 233 strikeouts in 134 innings; he had four complete games, five shutouts, and one save. Painter was ranked the third RHP in the country and the tenth overall player. He committed to play college baseball at the University of Florida.

When Was Andrew Painter Drafted?

Painter was the 18th overall ranked prospect and the tenth overall high school prospect entering the 2021 draft. The Philadelphia Phillies drafted Painter with the 13 th overall pick.

Andrew Painter’s Phillies Tenure

2021

Painter debuted for the Phillies rookie ball team and in four starts he went 0-0 with a 0.00 ERA and had 12 strikeouts in six innings of work with a 0.67 WHIP.

2022

Painter pitched across three levels in the Phillies organization for Single-A Clearwater, High-A Jersey Shore, and Double-A Reading. He made 22 starts going 6-2 with a 1.56 ERA and 155 strikeouts in 103.2 innings with a 0.89 WHIP.

2023

Painter was ranked the fifth overall prospect by Baseball America and the sixth prospect by MLB.com. He suffered an injury to his UCL and tried to rehab but ended up having Tommy John surgery over the summer and missed the season.

Future                                                                   

ITD ranks Painter as the 29th overall prospect and the Phillies top-ranked prospect. He is expected to start the season at either Double-A or Triple-A.
