Alcantara started with the Yankees rookie league team before he was traded to the Cubs where he played for Chicago’s rookie league team. In 34 games he slashed .345/.423/.588 with a 1.012 OPS; he had four doubles, five triples, five home runs, 24 RBI, 32 runs scored, five stolen bases, and 17 walks.

2022

Alcantara played for the Cubs Single-A affiliate Myrtle Beach. In 112 games he slashed .273/.360/.451 with an .811 OPS; he had 19 doubles, six triples, 15 home runs, 85 RBI, 76 runs scored, 14 stolen bases, and 55 walks.

Alcantara started the season ranked as the 91st overall prospect by Baseball America and the 87th by MLB.com. He played at the Cubs rookie league as well as High-A South Bend and Double-A Tennessee. In 102 games he slashed .284/.346/.466 with an .810 OPS; he had 26 doubles, three triples, 13 home runs, 71 RBI, 71 runs scored, 15 stolen bases, and 36 walks. This past fall he played in the Arizona Fall League playing for Mesa and in 21 games he slashed .256/.330/.535 with a .865 OPS; he had seven doubles, one triple, five home runs, 23 RBI, 11 runs scored, three stolen bases, and eight walks.

ITD ranks Alcantara as the 64th overall prospect and the Cubs fifth-ranked prospect. Alcantara is a talented player who can hit for average, with pop, and has speed to do damage on the base paths. He is expected to start the season at Double-A but should move to Triple-A rather quickly.
