Ranger Suarez threw eight brilliant innings Saturday night and Alec Bohm drove in four runs as the visiting Philadelphia Phillies cruised to a 5-1 win over the San Diego Padres.

Suarez (5-0) gave up three hits and a run with no walks and eight strikeouts. The only blemish was Eguy Rosario's third homer of the year with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning.

It was the first run allowed in 33 innings off Suarez, who threw 64 of his 96 pitches for strikes and lowered his ERA to 1.32.

Dylan Cease (3-2) suffered his first loss since March 30, lasting six innings and allowing five runs off six hits and three walks. Cease fanned five.

Entering the game permitting just five hits in his past 19 innings, Cease ran into immediate trouble in front of a sellout crowd.

Trea Turner singled with one out and Bohm struck with two outs, drilling a two-run homer to left-center, his fourth of the year.

It was still a 2-0 game in the fifth when Philadelphia put it out of reach. After getting two quick outs, Cease couldn't find the third until allowing three more runs.

Whit Merrifield and Turner sandwiched singles around a Kyle Schwarber walk to fill the bases.

Bryce Harper worked a walk to score Merrifield, and Bohm delivered a two-run single to make it 5-0.

Suarez never threw a truly stressful pitch. He worked from the stretch to only two hitters the entire game. The only San Diego hitter to reach second base was Rosario on his homer.

Turner went 3-for-5, including his 10th double of the season, and scored twice. He is now hitting .345.

Bohm finished with two hits, and his four RBIs boosted his season total to 26.

Jurickson Profar and Jose Azocar were the only other Padres to manage hits and Azocar was promptly picked off during Xander Bogaerts' at-bat.
