The San Francisco Giants sent Steven Duggar to the Texas Rangers for Willie Calhoun and cash considerations Thursday in a swap of outfielders.

Duggar has been activated from the 60-day injured list. To make room for Duggar on the club's 40-man roster, right-handed pitcher Spencer Patton has been designated for assignment. The Rangers will make another move to accommodate Duggar on the active 26-man roster when he reports to the club.

Calhoun, 27, had been outrighted to Triple-A after the Rangers designated him for assignment on June 5. The Giants would not need to add him to the 40-man roster if they choose to send him to Triple-A Sacramento.

Duggar's rehab assignment reached its 20-day limit Thursday. He strained an oblique on April 21. He was batting .194 with four RBIs in 12 games when he was injured. His roster spot on the Giants was given to Luis Gonzalez.

Duggar, 28, slashed .257/.330/.437 with eight home runs and 35 RBIs in a career-high 107 games for the Giants in 2021. He's a career .242 hitter in five seasons, all with the Giants.

Calhoun hit .136 with a homer, two RBIs and seven runs in 18 games before getting DFA'd.

Calhoun was a touted prospect when the Rangers acquired him from the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2017 as part of the Yu Darvish trade. In 2019, he played in 83 games and hit a career-high 21 home runs, batted .269 and scored 51 times.
