Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager will miss most of spring training after having surgery to repair a sports hernia on Tuesday.

Seager underwent the procedure in Arizona, and Texas anticipates the four-time All-Star to be good to go for Opening Day.

Rangers general manager Chris Young said his level of concern is "very low."

The Rangers will report to spring training on Feb. 15 and 20 and will open the regular season against the Chicago Cubs on March 28 in Arlington, Texas.

Seager, 29, hit .327 last season, smacking 33 home runs and driving in 96 runs in 119 games as an integral part of a Texas team that went on to win its first World Series. Seager batted .318 with six homers and 12 RBIs during the Rangers' postseason run.

In 906 career games with the Los Angeles Dodgers (2015-21) and Rangers (2022-23), Seager is a career .292 hitter. He has 170 home runs and 543 RBIs.
