Rays' Randy Arozarena: November arrest in Mexico stemmed from miscommunication with ex-wife

Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Randy Arozarena was arrested in Mexico in November for allegedly trying to abduct his daughter from his ex-wife. On Wednesday, he addressed the situation with reporters.

According to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times, Arozarena said the incident stemmed from a "miscommunication" with his daughter's mother and it has since been resolved.

Arozarena's ex-wife told a judge that she did not want to press charges and the 25-year-old was released two days after he was arrested.

The ALCS MVP was traded to the Rays from the St. Louis Cardinals in 2019. During the 2020 playoffs, he hit .377 with 10 home runs and 14 RBI. His 10 blasts set the MLB record for home runs in a single postseason.
