The Boston Red Sox are continuing to find ways to add to the roster.

Boston recently traded John Schreiber to the Kansas City Royals. Some have wondered if the Red Sox would add another reliever and the club has done just that.

The Red Sox reportedly agreed to terms on a deal with three-time All-Star Liam Hendriks, according to MassLive.com's Chris Cotillo and Sean McAdam.

"Source tells me and Sean McAdam: Red Sox close to adding Liam Hendriks, who is here at Fenway South," Cotillo said. "Hendriks is recovering from Tommy John surgery and aiming to return to action around the trade deadline this season. 3-time All-Star. Unclear on contract terms."

Hendriks will miss the beginning of the 2024 season as he recovers from Tommy John surgery but was one of the best relievers in baseball from 2019 to 2022. The righty compiled a 2.26 ERA across 226 games to go along with a 359-to-47 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

The 35-year-old missed much of the 2023 season as he recovered from cancer treatments but was able to return to the mound before suffering an elbow injury.

There has been speculation that the Red Sox could end up trading closer Kenley Jansen before the season comes around and it's unclear if a move will happen. If a trade doesn't happen, Jansen and Hendriks could form a scary duo in the back of the bullpen.

When healthy, Hendriks is one of the best relievers in baseball. Hopefully, he can return to form and take the mound at Fenway Park this summer.
