Reds player tests positive for COVID-19; Saturday's game vs. Pirates postponed

It appears the Cincinnati Reds are the latest Major League Baseball team to be affected by the coronavirus.

A Reds player tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan, putting their Saturday game against the Pittsburgh Pirates in jeopardy.

The game ended up getting postponed along with the Sunday contest:

The teams were informed of the positive test after their game in Cincinnati on Friday. Outside of the St. Louis Cardinals, MLB hadn't reported a positive test in two weeks.

Cincinnati has feared positive tests in the past. Mike Moustakas and Nick Senzel self-reported symptoms and spent days on the injured list before they were allowed to be reinstated.

Joey Votto also spent time on the injured list while experiencing symptoms, and Matt Davidson tested positive once before testing negative multiple times after that.

The Reds now will increase testing and begin a quarantine period that could last into next week, Passan added.

Cincinnati defeated the Pirates on Friday to move to 9-11 on the season.
