Reds' Wade Miley credits Hulk tattoo for bringing luck in no-hitter

Wade Miley believes the Incredible Hulk helped him in his no-hitter against Cleveland on Friday.

The Cincinnati Reds left-hander said he pitched the game with a temporary tattoo of the Incredible Hulk on his forearm, which was a gift from his 4-year-old son Jeb before he left for Cleveland.

"I'm gonna try to get my wife to order as many Hulk tattoos as she can," Miley said after the outing, according to Dave Clark of the Cincinnati Enquirer. "Maybe I'll just slap them on before every start — let (Jeb) do it."

Reds outfielder Nick Castellanos said Miley should get a permanent tattoo of the Incredible Hulk on his arm after throwing a no-hitter, but the veteran isn't interested in doing so because he's "so scared of needles right now."

Miley's no-hitter was the fourth of the 2021 season, joining Joe Musgrove, Carlos Rodon and John Means. He struck out eight batters on 114 pitches, allowing just one walk and another runner to reach base on an error.

The last time the league saw four or more no-hitters by May 7 was in 1917 when there were five.
