Report: Astros executive Ehsan Bokhari expected to be named assistant GM for Cubs

Just one week after the Chicago Cubs tabbed Carter Hawkins to be their next general manager, the team is reportedly on the verge of bringing in somebody who will be Hawkins' right-hand man.

Per Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic, the Cubs are expected to name Houston Astros executive Ehsan Bokhari as the team's new assistant general manager. Bokhari joined the Astros organization as the Director of Research and Development in 2018 before being promoted to his current role as the Senior Director of Player Evaluation.

Prior to joining Houston, Bokhari spent four seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers Research and Development team as a senior analyst.

As noted by Sharma, the Astros have made it to at least the ALCS in each of the past five seasons, including a pair of World Series appearances and a championship in 2017. They currently lead the Boston Red Sox 3-2 in their best-of-seven ALCS.
