Report: Cardinals game vs. Cubs postponed due to more positive COVID-19 tests

The coronavirus situation in Major League Baseball still isn't under control, and the St. Louis Cardinals are suffering.

According to The Athletic's Mark Saxon, Friday night's Cardinals game against the Chicago Cubs has been postponed because more members of the St. Louis organization have tested positive for the coronavirus. MLB Network's Jon Heyman adds that the league was hoping all teams would be back in action on Friday.

ESPN's Jesse Rogers states that the club has at least one positive test with the possibility that more people test positive.

While on the road last week, St. Louis had 13 members of their organization test positive for COVID-19, including seven players. As a result, the Cardinals had series against the Detroit Tigers and Milwaukee Brewers postponed.

St. Louis was set to return from their coronavirus quarantine on Friday with a three-game series against the Cubs, but it's now unlikely that they play at all this weekend.

The Miami Marlins, who had 21 members of their organization test positive for the virus, returned to action on Tuesday against the Baltimore Orioles. Similarly, the Philadelphia Phillies, who had three staff members test positive, returned to the field on Monday against the New York Yankees.

The Cardinals have not played since July 29, which was a 3-0 loss to the Minnesota Twins.
