Report: Diamondbacks hire former Cubs executive Jason McLeod as special assistant to GM

The Arizona Diamondbacks have hired Jason McLeod to be a special assistant to general manager Mike Hazen, according to reports.

In addition to his most recent gig in the Chicago Cubs' front office, McLeod has spent time with the San Diego Padres and Boston Red Sox. Both Hazen and McLeod worked together with the Red Sox from 2006 through 2009, when Hazen served as Boston's director of player development.

When current Cubs president of baseball operations Jed Hoyer was named the GM of the Padres in 2009, McLeod joined the San Diego organization.

During his tenure in Chicago, McLeod held roles as the vice president overseeing player development, amateur scouting and player personnel. In addition to his familiarity with Hazen, McLeod has also worked with Arizona assistant GM Amiel Sawdaye, who was the assistant director of amateur scouting for the Red Sox from 2005 through 2009.
