Report: Dodgers' Brusdar Graterol on IL due to previous battle with COVID-19

Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Brusdar Graterol opened the 2021 campaign on the injured list but it is not the result of an injury.

Graterol's stint on the IL is "related to COVID from the past," according to Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said the 22-year-old is behind schedule and not hurt.

Graterol does not have an official return timeline but has been building up his arm strength.

The Dodgers acquired Graterol from the Minnesota Twins last season. The Venezuelan went 1-2 in 2020 with a 3.09 ERA, 0.900 WHIP and 13 strikeouts in 23.1 innings.

L.A. currently has Kenley Jansen, Blake Treinen, Corey Knebel, Tony Gonsolin, David Price, Victor Gonzalez, Jimmy Nelson and Scott Alexander in the bullpen.
