Report: Mets agree to two-year, $20 million deal with Taijuan Walker
The New York Mets continue to be one of the busiest teams in Major League Baseball this winter.
According to SNY's Andy Martino, the Mets have agreed to a deal with free-agent right-hander Taijuan Walker. The New York Post's Joel Sherman says the deal is for two years and $20 million.
Walker had a solid 2020 campaign after appearing in just four games from 2018 to 2019 due to Tommy John surgery. The 28-year-old went 4-3 with a 2.70 ERA, 1.163 WHIP and 50 strikeouts in 53.1 innings for the Seattle Mariners and Toronto Blue Jays.
Walker provides the Mets with another starting option behind Jacob deGrom, Carlos Carrasco, Marcus Stroman, David Peterson and Noah Syndergaard, who is expected to return this summer after undergoing Tommy John surgery.
