Report: MLB schedule approved by MLBPA, to be announced next week

Baseball fans longing to circle dates on calendars will have to wait until after the July 4 holiday.

On Thursday, MLB Network insider Jon Heyman reported that the league will announce the fixtures for the 60-game campaign played amid the coronavirus pandemic next week. Heyman added that the MLB Players Association has already approved of the schedule.

As noted Wednesday when reports emerged that the St. Louis Cardinals are replacing the New York Yankees for the Aug. 13 Field of Dreams game versus the Chicago White Sox, it's believed teams will only play opponents from similar regional divisions across both leagues.

Heyman added that MLB intends to announce on Friday how many individuals tested positive for the coronavirus upon returning to their clubs for spring training 2.0 sessions.
