Report: Pitcher David Price paying Dodgers' minor-leaguers $1K each amid pandemic

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher David Price wasn't very liked during his time with the Boston Red Sox, for a multitude of reasons, but his latest gesture for the Dodgers' minor-league players is a class act.

The five-time All-Star is giving every Dodgers minor-leaguer $1,000 to help pay for expenses amid the coronavirus pandemic and canceled MiLB season, according to MLB writer Francys Romero.

Major League Baseball agreed to pay all minor-leaguers a $400 per week stipend through the end of May, which isn't even close to enough money to help players support their families.

Now that money is going away as teams are beginning to cut players in their minor-league systems to help cope with the financial losses caused by the pandemic.

Price isn't the only MLB player to make a generous donation to his teammates amid the coronavirus outbreak. Rangers outfielder Shin-Soo Choo also donated $1,000 to every player in the Texas minor-league system in April.

The Dodgers acquired Price, along with right fielder Mookie Betts, in a blockbuster deal with Boston that sent Alex Verdugo, Jeter Downs and Connor Wong to Boston.

The 34-year-old Price has three years remaining on a seven-year, $217 million deal he signed with the Red Sox in 2015.
